Instant Pot Whole Chicken

Learn the perfect way to cook a whole chicken in the Instant Pot, resulting in juicy and flavorful meat with a golden-brown skin. This easy and quick recipe is a game-changer for busy days!

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole chicken about 4-5 pounds
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 cup chicken broth

Instructions:

Rinse the whole chicken and pat it dry with paper towels

In a small bowl, mix salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika to create a spice rub

Rub the spice mixture all over the chicken, including inside the cavity

Select the 'Saute' function on the Instant Pot and add olive oil

Place the seasoned chicken in the Instant Pot, breast side down, and brown for 3-4 minutes on each side

Pour chicken broth into the Instant Pot and deglaze the bottom to prevent burning

Secure the Instant Pot lid, set the vent to 'Sealing,' and select the 'Pressure Cook' function for 25 minutes at high pressure

Once cooking is complete, allow natural pressure release for 10 minutes, then carefully perform a quick pressure release

Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165F 74C

Carefully remove the chicken from the Instant Pot and let it rest for a few minutes before carving
